Pranayama Yoga

.

Pranayama Yoga the 'Yoga for Relaxation'. This particular form of yoga teaches relaxation of the mind and body, it promotes the elimination of mental and physical tension and gives the ability to face life without physical or mental fatigue.

.

The term pranayama is well known throughout yoga, meaning  mastery of the breath, which brings about enhancement of the life force on an individual level. Pranayama (with a capital 'P') can also be used to describe man's interaction with the universal life force or cosmic consciousness.

.

Yogi Krishna developed Pranayama yoga, but because of family commitments he was unable to leave the city to live in seclusion, as the other yogi's of the time were doing, so he developed a yoga that is as relevant today as it was all those thousands of years ago. This form of yoga was introduced to England by Yogini Sunita Cabral in 1959.

Pranayama yoga incorporates a unique sequence of :

Movements / Breath control / Deep relaxation / Meditation / Yoga Philosophy.

.

Teacher Training

.

Pranayama yoga teachers are traditionally trained. This means that a personal relationship is developed between teacher and student, teacher training is only considered after the student has progressed through beginners, intermediary and advanced levels of yoga training. If a student is considered suitable they are invited to undergo teacher training, this is always the teachers decision. Training is conducted one to one and small groups.

.

This is how Sharon was trained as was her teacher (who was trained by Sunita). This is the only way Yogini Sunita allowed her teachers to be trained.

History of Yoga

.

Yoga means unity, it is an ancient discipline, both art and science, that brings about health and wellness on all levels, physical, mental and spiritual. It is thought to be over 6,000 years old and there are probably more than 200 styles, with about 50 being available out side India.

.

The early yogi's were holy men who sought spiritual enlightenment through meditation, they would live mostly in seclusion, returning to the towns periodically to teach. Yoga was first  introduced to the United Kingdom in 1830 by Ram Mohan Roy and to the USA in 1893 by Vivekananda, it has now spread world wide.

.

Physical yoga, which is the aspect most well known in the west, was brought about by the need to have a fit, healthy and trouble free body that was a worthy vehicle for the spirit.
